Finished Easter Hat - Image

  • a grown-up to help you
  • paper plate
  • coloured cardboard
  • felt
  • glittered card
  • cupcake liners
  • textured material
  • pompoms
  • glue
  • scissors

  1. 1.To start take a paper plate, fold it in half and cut from the centre towards to edge of the plate (but not the whole way) to create triangles that you can then fold outwards – this opening should fit your child's head, and the edge of the plate creates the brim of the hat.
  2. 2.Attach the coloured cardboard to the plate buy gluing the triangles to the base of the card – this will create a cylindrical shape and should look like a top hat.
  3. 3.Cut ears out of felt – we added cardboard to ours to make them stronger. For the inner ear we used a gold glittery paper!
  4. 4.Glue the ears to the front of the hat and tie your piece of fabric around the base of the hat – the longer the material the longer the train!
  5. 5.Create flowers by layering cupcake liners, we added petal effects by cutting along the ribbed part of the liners.
  6. 6.Once you’re happy with your flowers, pop a pompom in the middle and glue them to the front of the hat!
  7. 7.You’re ready to rock the Easter hat parade!
