- Up to 40,000 native grass and wetland plant seeds are being dropped across Winton Wetlands this week by drone
- It is hoped the program will assist river red gum revegetation
- Winton Wetlands' restoration manger want to expand the aerial drop technique across hundreds of hectares at the site
"If [that] does turn out to be successful … we would be looking to upscale that technique across hundreds of hectares,"Dr Farnsworth said.
"We've got an area that's about a couple thousand hectares of dead river red gum that we need to re-establish and it [the aerial seed drops] could be a really good way to do it."
"We're about ready to start developing our entire operations around this rainy operation,"he said.
