- A state of emergency has been declared in PNG after 16 people died in riots
- The unrest broke out after hundreds of people spilled onto the streets, and shops and businesses in the capital were set alight
- PNG's PM says "police were not at work yesterday in the city and people resorted to lawlessness"
"I want to offer some apologies to businesses that were lost, it was not your doing but in the hands of civil disorder,"Mr Marape said.
"Our citizens in the city and around the country are now living in fear, uncertain of the future, uncertain of what's going to happen next,"he said.
