"The Aboriginal Lands Amendment Bill will not progress at this stage as we seek to gain consensus across the parliament and Aboriginal people,"the spokesperson said.
"Now the Liberal government will be forced to hopefully focus on introducing legislation or making changes that the Aboriginal community are calling for."
"We would like to see it go through and be passed, but it's got to have the ability to be able to pass through both houses [of parliament]."
"The Aboriginal community has put up a strong fight against these proposed reforms, they were unwelcome from the start,"she said.
"It's well past time for the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, for the Premier, to prioritise truth-telling and progress towards a treaty in Tasmania."
