  • The leaders of 18 European nations have met in London to discuss the security of Ukraine and the continent amid the Russian invasion.
  • British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the UK and France would develop a peace plan, inclusive of a $3.2bn package to begin building air defence missiles in Northern Ireland to supply to Ukraine.
  • French President Emmanuel Macron says he and Mr Starmer are proposing a one-month ceasefire that would take effect in the air and by sea.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is on his way back to Ukraine, has doubled down on his calls for security guarantees for his country as part of any future peace negotiations. He says Europe is united is support of those calls and will present US President Donald Trump with the plan.

  1. 1.Military aid to Ukraine and economic pressure on Russia will continue.
  2. 2.Ukraine must be included in peace negotiations to ensure its sovereignty and security.
  3. 3.European nations will continue to boost Ukraine's security capability in the event of a peace deal.
  4. 4.A European "coalition of the willing" will defend Ukraine to guarantee peace. 

  • European Union President Ursula von der Leyen has confirmed member nations will meet on March 6 to vote on "a comprehensive plan to the leaders on how to rearm Europe".
  • It is expected upon approval that plan will be presented to the US. Mr Trump is yet to respond personally to the UK leaders summit.
