"You click in, and you put in your details, and then, lo and behold, someone turns up at your door. That is one way to circumnavigate the unsolicited or uninvited part of the sale, and that means that those protections may not apply,"Ms Tonkin said.
- The solar panels will be "free" or "cost nothing".
- They will get money from the government — without establishing if the consumer is eligible.
- If a person had solar panels — they were told they were faulty, without evidence.
- Energy bills will be cheaper with new panels, even though they already have them.
"I looked at the column where it had incomings and expenditure and I thought, 'God, I don't earn that much money a fortnight. This is not right,'"she said.
"This includes banning high-pressure sales tactics … and requiring all third-party retailers to treat customers fairly and respectfully."
