"But now it's really sad, you go near a little creek or waterways and you don't see turtles."
"About 100 per cent of nests are getting dug up by foxes in some areas, which is stopping juveniles getting back into the system,"she said.
"The challenge with turtles is to go from an egg to an adult might take 10-20 years,"he said.
"The turtles are the ones that really cleaned the river, and that's why it's so important for us to protect them and bring them back,"she said.
