- 1.Excavate the area to allow for approximately 150mm of bedding material plus the depth of the pavers.
- 2.To create a stable base, compact a 100mm layer of crushed rock and rubble.
- 3.When using random pavers, practice the pattern to ensure you're happy. Take a picture of the layout and remove pavers.
- 4.Mix a mortar of 3 parts washed sand to 1-part cement. Add water slowly until it is the consistency of thick porridge.
- 5.Place each paver on a 50mm bed off mortar, referring to the photo for positioning.
- 6.Ensure the pavers are level using a sting line and spirit level.
- 7.Reinforce the edge of the paver with an angled mortar cap.
- 8.Allow the concrete to set for at least 4 hours before planting.
- 1.Back fill around the pavers with a suitable soil mix for the plants you want to grow.
- 2.Arrange the plants to allow for safe stepping over or around them.
