- 1 piece of timber – a straight branch is fine
- Coconut fibre
- Wire
- Plastic pot x 2 – one large, one small
- Gravel
- Potting mix
- Climbing indoor plant
- Cable ties
- 1.Wrap the timber (in this case some Eucalypt) in coconut fibre, leaving the bottom section bare where it will be planted, and wiring it into place
- 2.Place the post into the smaller pot, holding it vertical while you backfill with gravel; this is to avoid planting direct into soil, where it would quickly rot
- 3.Half fill the larger pot with potting mix
- 4.Place this potted post into the larger pot and backfill with more potting mix to stabilise it
- 5.Tease loose the root system of the Monstera and plant it up against the post
- 6.Back fill with more potting mix
- 7.Mulch with gravel
- 8.Water in
- 9.For easier lifting, make two holes about 7cm apart on either side of the rim, and tie through cable ties to create discreet handles
