• A study seat base. A recycled galvanised bin for a full size and a metal bucket for a kids' sized seat.
• Polystyrene foam, broken into small pieces
• Geotextile fabric/drain mat or shade cloth.
• Drill (electric or hand drill) and drill bit. Safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection.
• Good quality potting mix with added compost.
• Plants, plants, plants!

1. 1.Drill 8-10 holes in the base of the container for drainage.
2. 2.Half fill the container with broken polystyrene. This helps to reduce the overall weight of the seat to make it more mobile.
3. 3.Place geotextile/drain mat or shadecloth over the top of the polystyrene foam to prevent the soil washing through.
4. 4.Fill right to the top with potting mix, ensuring the finished level is flush with rim of the bin.
5. 5.Position plants and backfill.
6. 6.Water in the plants and water regularly for the first 6 - 8 weeks after planting (keep the seat in a shady spot to start with.) Once the plants have filled out and are covering the top of the seat, water the plants a few hours before they will be used or your guests will get a wet behind!
